June 15th is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

On June 15th World Elder Abuse Awareness Day activities are happening in Labrador City, Happy Valley Goose Bay, Charlottetown, and the Labrador Straits.
Lab West (Lab West Status of Women and LG Health) is hosting an "Empowering Seniors" Event- Bringing awareness to Elder Abuse, Healthy Eating Choices. Includes a Luncheon and special guest speaker from Seniors Resource Center.
Happy Valley Goose Bay (Labrador Friendship Center, LG Health, Paddon Home, NunatuKavut, Nunatsiavut Government) is hosting a Walk and BBQ. June 15th starting at 11am at the Old Town Square and Labrador Friendship Center.
The Charlottetown Peer Advocates will host an information sharing, activity and Luncheon for all seniors 60+. There will be a short presentation and video on Elder Abuse, information hand outs, fun activity, local entertainment and a traditional meal (including dessert) will be served. There will be some prize giveaways. This event will take place at the Town Council's Multi-Purpose Building @ 4:00 pm.
In Forteau, LG Health is hosting a BBQ with seniors at the Seniors Complex with special guest presentation on Financial abuse by the Eagle River Credit Union.
